Lesson 45: "If I Perish, I Perish" (Part 2) [.pdf] [.pub]

Last week our Sunday School class didn't get all the way through the lesson, and there was so much more to talk about, we extended it to this week as well, so we could get to discuss more about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and Esther and Mordecai. So I made a flyer similar to last week's but with enough few differences to focus our attention on the things we will be getting to.

The little box marked "Doubleness in Esther" may be a little cryptic; to find out more about this, go to Daniel F. Polish, "Aspects of Esther: A Phenomenological Exploration of the Megillah of Esther and the Origins of Purim," Journal for the Study of the Old Testament, Vol. 85 (1999), pgs. 85-106. While this article is written for Jewish readers/scholars, it has some wonderful insights into how we might read Esther. Of course, this month's Ensign has a terrific article in it that would also be great to bring into the lesson, which I did as a quote on the flyer and will do more in the lesson.

p.s. Sorry to post this so late, but it's been a horribly busy week for me; I'm into the last week of classes here.
